| 11 February 2008 - Podcast and Festivals
Racket Club Studio Podcast: A Glimpse of Album 15
After a long hiatus, the Marillion Online Podcast has returned to document the writing and recording of the upcoming album.
The first glimpse at Album 15 - including a sound clip from the new song "Real Tears For Sale" comes to you from the Racket Club studio with Pete Trewavas and Steve Rothery.
If you have iTunes software already installed, you can go straight to the Marillion Online Podcast HERE (the 'Marillion Online Podcast' also appears in the iTunes Podcast directory if you search for Marillion).
If you DON'T have iTunes software installed, you can still listen to the Podcast - just head over to the Marillion Online NEWS Website for full details of how to listen!
Festival and other Special Appearances in 2008
The main Album 15 tour is expected to start in October 2008, but you will still have a chance to see Marillion before that!
A selection of festivals and special appearances in 2008 will see Marillion perform as Los Trios (Steve H, Steve R, and Pete) in March for Child Line; acoustically as a full band at the appropriately-named Acoustic Festival of Britain; and of course in full-on electric form in July and August.
Full details of the performances mentioned, as well as ticket information is availability from www.marillion.com/tour |

| 12 March 2008 - Album 15 Has a Name
NEWS!
We're just out of a meeting!
Marillion "Album 15" will be called Happiness Is The Road.
It will consist of 2 separate CDs (full details on www.marillion.com/preorder). Volume 1 is subtitled Essence and Volume 2 is subtitled The Hard Shoulder.
Essence (Volume 1) is evolving at the moment into a thematic journey, whilst Volume 2 is more a collection of discrete songs. Recording is still going brilliantly and the new songs we've written have "knocked out" the few people we've played them to.
More soon.. h, Pete, Mark, Ian, Steve

| 3 April 2008 - The next Stage of 'Happiness'
H
We're now at my favourite stage of the album. All the hard slog, pressure and neurosis I feel during the jamming and arranging is over (for me!). We have fabulous things recorded and we can now spend time adding the overdubs and vocals which will bring the music to life. I finally have enough time to live with the lyrics and add/subtract further thoughts.
It's a time for honing and for adding sparks to the work. All I have to do now is sing all the vocals (which I usually do in the evenings) and - even better than that - shake the shakers and tambourines, tinkle the dulcimers, and maybe hit the occasional bells and glocks. Lovely. Rothers is right - it's sounding fab sonically.
Mark
Now the backing tracks are all but finished I've retreated to my home studio to experiment with sounds and parts while the guitars and vocals are worked on in the Racket Club. I like working at home where I can really try stuff without feeling that Mike is waiting with his finger on the record button.
When I've got something I'm happy with, I upload it onto our server, give Mike a call to let him know it's there and wait for him to call me back to tell me he loves/hates it. This morning I grabbed a track called Planet Marzipan off the server. One I've been looking forward to working on, so I'd better go and get on with it. I'll shoot a little video so you can see how my end of things work here once I've tidied things up a bit!
Steve R
Back in the studio again today. I've been recording guitars on a new track "Planet Marzipan". I think this album is a huge sonic improvement on Somewhere Else. Mike's done an excellent job in capturing the magic of our initial jams. I've been using my adrenalin pedal again today. It's probably my favourite bit of gear to use at this stage of the recording. Very inspirational. I'm still working on the Wishing Tree in my spare time.
Pete
Just got back from the studio. I have been overdubbing bass on one of the very new tracks we have called Planet Marzipan. at least that is what we know it as for now. the title may or may not change. It is a really good piece of music with two very different parts to it. It sounds quite different for us but still has lots of Marillion in it. This makes it a very strong track.
I have played bass on most of the tracks and probably have four or five left to play bass on. It all has a good feel and there is a bit of a nod in the Marbles direction at times. Again having two discs of music means we can bring lots of influences and explore many musical places, that there would not be room for on a conventional CD. Thanks for being part of the experiment with us. Hopefully we will be able to play you a couple of snippets soon so you can hear what on earth I am going on about.
Ian
Mike Hunter (our producer) called us all in to listen to some backing tracks this morning... Still very much work in progress but I must say they all sounded really good. Apart from a few odds and ends, I have just about finished recording all the drums for the new album, so now it's up to the rest of the boys to carry on over-dubbing. Looking forward to doing some gigs in the summer...
NEWS FLASH There is definitely a mouse somewhere in the studio, and its Jed's (studio dog) life mission to catch it... Of course he never will, but it is very amusing watching him diving into cardboard boxes etc.

| 23 July 2008 - New Song and Video Contest
Marillion are giving you the chance to win £5000 AND giving away a brand new song FOR FREE
Download a special edit of the BRAND NEW song Whatever is Wrong With You? now at www.whateveriswrongwithyou.com - then use it as the soundtrack to your OWN video.
What kind of video? Well it can be absolutely ANYTHING you want it to be - we don't want to limit your choices by even suggesting something. Just make something that YOU want to make: funny, interesting, serious, mysterious - but something that EVERYONE would want to watch! Then upload it to YouTube... and this is where the £5000 comes in.
The video you upload to YouTube MUST be called "Marillion - Whatever Is Wrong With You". The contest will run until the end of the Happiness is the Road Tour 2008, and on December 1st the video with the most views will win the £5000 cash Grand Prize - it's that simple. The better your video, the more people will watch it, and the more chance you have of winning.
In addition to the Grand Prize, we will also be giving a special Spot Prize to the video we (Marillion) think is the best, regardless of how many views it gets.
There are terms and conditions that will apply - all of these, contest rules, and of course the new track 'Whatever is Wrong With You' as an MP3 are available at www.whateveriswrongwithyou.com
The new Marillion double album Happiness Is The Road (which includes Whatever is Wrong With You?) is due out in Autumn 2008, and is available to pre-order only from www.marillion.com/preorder.

| 29 July 2008 - The Plan
Thanks to all of you for the amazing feedback on our new song Whatever Is Wrong With You - we're blown away by the responses. If you missed the eWeb and don't know what we're talking about then check out www.whateveriswrongwithyou.com We are going to send Whatever Is Wrong With You to radio stations around the world, and - who knows - we may get some radio play! If we do, we will release it as a download single via iTunes on October 1st.
Many of you have been asking if the album is now mixed and finished and when you'll get it, so we have decided to share The Plan with you at last. We have nearly finished mixing the album and it should be mastered in early August. It will then be sent off for manufacturing and (as long as nothing goes wrong!) we should have the pre-orders ready to post to you in early October.
The official release date for Happiness is the Road Volumes 1 & 2 will be October 20th, 2008; but in typical Marillion style we are not exactly going the traditional route!
From release date the album will be available through www.marillion.com (on CD and as a download) and through the usual digital outlets (iTunes, eMusic, Napster, 7 Digital, etc.). However, there will be a very limited retail release: until at least spring 2009 the album will only be available on CD in shops in the USA, Canada, and Poland. So if you haven't pre-ordered from us already, or have friends who might normally buy their Marillion CDs in shops, we want to spread the word that it's simple, safe and easy to buy the album directly from us at www.marillion.com ... AND buying it direct from us helps us, well, directly! We will also be selling the CDs at all our shows on tour, both this year and next year, but we're sure you won't want to wait that long!
Get those creative juices flowing and get to work on those videos in the mean time... H, Pete, Mark, Ian, Steve
Marillion Weekend 2009 Updates After much waiting, tickets for Marillion Weekend 2009 - Canada, at the Théâtre L'Olympia in Montréal, are now on sale!
Just as they are going on sale, though, tickets for the Marillion Weekend - Netherlands are nearly sold out. There is still accommodation left, but the few remaining places are being snapped up quickly.
Also, the band have announced that the Friday night performance at each Marillion Weekend 2009 will include a full performance of Seasons End to celebrate the album's 20th anniversary.
Full details on the Marillion Weekend 2009 and ticket links for both the Netherlands and Canada are at www.marillionweekend.com

| 8 September 2008 - Carry on Spreading the Word
As you know, 20th October 2008 sees the release date for Marillion’s 15th studio album, HAPPINESS IS THE ROAD, and the European tour supporting the album will kick off on 8th November 2008 in Inverness! Only a few short weeks to go. You'll have heard by now about the competition on YouTube to make a film to accompany Marillion’s new song, Whatever Is Wrong With You (and in case you haven’t, check out www.whateveriswrongwithyou.com) for the chance not only to help us to promote the band in a new and innovative way, but also to win a cash prize! Both the video with the most views and the band’s own favourite film will win £5000 each - and it’s always possible that your film could win both prizes! There’s still time to enter, the closing date for the competition is 1st December 2008. Tell your friends... tell all your friends...
But that’s not all: the Marillion Online Forum (at www.marillion.com/forum) has already added other competitions for fans willing to go just a little bit further than usual to advertise and promote HAPPINESS IS THE ROAD and the upcoming tour. We know that a lot of you already check the message board out, but that not quite as many of you actually post to it, and we’d encourage you to do so, if you haven’t before!
More competitions will be posted in the upcoming weeks, and we’re trying to make them as much fun as possible... you don’t have to be an amateur filmmaker or technically gifted in any way, you just have to have enthusiasm and a tiny touch of creative madness!
We have tour posters available to send to you to put up in your local area, and flyers available for download at www.marillion.com/street - please send us pictures of the poster and you - or whoever else - standing next to them, or pictures of you flyering streets, festivals, wherever you fancy (making sure you have permission first!). We’re also running another competition for the most innovative way that you can think of for you to promote HAPPINESS IS THE ROAD and the tour in your own cities, towns, villages, etc.; the crazier the better!
To find out more, check out the street teams section of the Marillion Online Forum at www.marillion.com/forum, or email the street teams coordinator at ben@marillion.com. Pre-ordering HAPPINESS IS THE ROAD isn't the only way you can get involved. We've all Found a Better Way of Life at marillion.com - let's carry on spreading the word!
'Happiness is the Road' EPK Want to get a first look at the new album with sound clips, band interviews, and artwork from the album? Head on over to YouTube and check out the 11-minute Electronic Press Kit for 'Happiness is the Road' www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI_OlG3FV5s

If 'Los Trios' is new to you, this is a stripped-down semi-acoustic performance featuring Steve Hogarth, Steve Rothery, and Pete Trewavas playing new arrangements of your favourite Marillion tracks in an intimate setting.
The Web Germany is organising the show, but everyone is invited - you don't have to be a Web Member to come, so head on over to www.marillion.com/tour for ticket and venue details!

| 2 October 2008 - Marillion Weekend Getting Close
Hello folks,
It is an exciting time here at Weekend HQ as I have begun to match all the lovely people who wanted to share, into their cottages. It was so good to see that many people who met as strangers at the last Weekend, have booked this time as friends. We still have some spaces left at the Holland Weekend in both Standard and Deluxe accommodation, so book now and join the party before it's too late!
Events confirmed so far:
Friday Night: 20th Anniversary performance of the whole of Season’s End. After-show party battle: Lucy’s Queen of Rock Disco and Stephanie’s Dance On a Volcano (and other long songs)
Watch this space as we'll be revealing what is planned for Saturday and Sunday Night soon...
Limited tickets are also available for Marillion Weekend Canada (the concerts on each night will be the same as those for Port Zélande) - full details on tickets, pricing, and online booking for both Weekends are available from www.marillionweekend.com
I look forward to seeing you there! Stephanie
Win VIP Passes to the Marillion Weekend 2009
You can win two VIP passes for the Marillion Weekends 2009 in either the Netherlands or Canada! These passes are "Access All Areas" - you will be able to watch sound checks, come back stage and - of course - meet the band! To enter, submit a photograph of YOU wearing a Marillion T-shirt (or other item of Marillion clothing) in the most bizarre, glamorous, extraordinary or weird place you can think of - in front of the Taj Mahal, at the House of Commons, the bride or groom at a wedding, climbing Mt. Everest, or even outside Chernobyl in a Radiation T-Shirt (hmm... that last one sounds familiar) ...you get the idea.
The competition will run through the end of January 2009 - winners will receive free tickets to all shows as part of their prize, but in the case of Marillion Weekend 2009: Netherlands, meals will not be provided. Travel is not included in either prize. Find out how to submit your photo plus all the terms and conditions at the Official Marillion Weekend Website

"I am very excited to announce that Marillion will be performing totally live on our Sky TV show next week. We are dubbing it a Marillion special and they will be performing tracks totally live. We should hopefully have some signed stuff to give away as well. Ditto Music Live goes out every Thursday at 8pm on Red TV, Sky channel 180. The purpose of the show is to showcase new music as well as advice to up and coming artists. For me Marillion are at the cutting edge of DIY ethics and it's a real pleasure to have them on the show."

| 15 October 2008 - Pre-Orders Begin Shipping!
Well everybody, exciting news from the Racket Club. The 2CD deluxe campaign editions of "Happiness is the Road" are rolling out. The printers have brought the first box to us and they look amazing. As quickly as they're coming off the presses, the teams at the mailing house are assembling them and getting them out in the post... in fact we've had reports on the forums (and even a video on YouTube!) that some of you have received them, too. The 'standard' individual jewel-case edition pre-orders will also begin shipping this week. This is a massive undertaking that will span several days, but the shipping has started, so watch your doormats - you should be getting yours soon.
It's a very exciting but very busy time here at Racket Records so please bear with us. As always we are working as fast and as hard as we can to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible - but because we are using an outside company to ship most of the pre-orders, any online order status in 'My Account' and shipping confirmation emails from Racket Records may be a bit out-of-sync with what is actually happening.
If you HAVEN'T pre-ordered the special edition, these will still be available as long as supplies last (we do have extra copies) - and the 'standard' editions will be available from Racket indefinitely.
Also, a reminder that the new album - in either the deluxe or standard CD formats - will NOT be available in retail shops (outside of the US and Poland); it is is ONLY available from www.marillion.com
Finally, we'd like to say thank you again on behalf of the band (who are all in Europe this week doing promotion for the album and the tour!) for helping us do what we do.
From all of us at Racket Records
